Welcome to Buckhurst Hill Residents' Society

About The Society

Buckhurst Hill Residents' Society was founded in 1963 and is non-political and non-profitmaking. It is funded by a membership scheme and is managed by an annually elected committee.

Our Aims are:

  • To support and protect the unique character and heritage of the area
  • To campaign for improvements
  • To offer advice to members on Planning and other local matters
  • To organize social events for members and the wider community

The Society's membership enables the committee to represent Buckhurst Hill. Members provide the society with a voice at meetings for example when bidding for enhancement, funding for events and campaigning to protect the environment.

Members are welcome to be as active within the society as they wish. There is no obligation to come to any activity or to offer time to organise events as it is understood that time can be a pressure, however all members are very welcome to take part as much as they wish and will always be kept informed.

We actively welcome new members, so if you would like to join us and meet like-minded people from Buckhurst Hill, please follow the instructions below on Becoming a Member. Your subscription enables the Society to continue.

The committee is made up of members of BHRS who have volunteered to manage and represent the society. They meet once a month.

The committee arranges events for members and the wider community as well as working alongside other organisations e.g. BH Parish Council, BH Village Forum and supporting charities such as Carers UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and the Loughton Food Bank.

Recent events have included :-

  • Christmas Fairs
  • Coffee Mornings
  • Quiz Nights
  • Film Nights

There are monthly talks and presentations from a wide range of speakers.

Committee members are available to support members by finding answers to questions about the area, buildings, amenities or by directing them to a possible source.

Members of the committee also attend local meetings to represent the residents of Buckhurst Hill

  • Planning committees at the Parish and District Councils
  • Police and Residents joint meeting
  • Buckhurst Hill Village Forum
