At the Annual General Meeting on May 11th 2016, the Society elected Jenn Page to be its new Chairman. Jenn will continue as Membership Secretary.
Tony Oliva said "I have been Chairman now for ten years, and I feel the Society is in a good position for someone else to take over the reins. Many thanks to all the Committee for their effort and support. I will continue to be a member and attend events.".
The Committee thanked Tony for all he has done for BHRS. In his ten years as Chairman, he has given a great deal of his time to the Society, and we all thank him for his dedication. The Society has gradually changed in that ten years, expanding to encompass many more local issies, and becoming a more definite element of Buckhurst Hill. Tony has expanded the fields of the Society by his involvement with NORA. His involvement with the Neighbourhood Plan, with Transport for London, and his liaising with the Parish Council are three examples of the extra areas in which he has devoted time and thought.
Michele Davies also stood down from the Committee. Michele spearheaded several of the Society's campaigns against local development, as well as managing the move to the new website.
Both Tony and Michele leave large gaps to fill.
